The Annexe children have had a really great week!
This week with the under 2's we have seen lots of fun activities. The children continue to be a huge fan of the garden and are continuing to develop those core muscles during fun time on the bikes and scooters. This week the children have also had a great time in the garden playing catch and ball games. This was also a great chance to work on building some hand eye co-ordination.
The children continued with this theme when doing a bit of pasta threading during their inside time. Developing a child’s hand eye coordination is vital in supporting their early physical development. This is when the child’s eyes are able to judge distance and their surroundings, whilst their brain gives the instruction for their hand to make a particular movement. Developing their hand-eye coordination will help your child in the future learn to write and fasten their own buttons.
Finally we have seen a continued interest in a variety of stories this week in the Annexe, the children enjoy daily the opportunity to engage their imagination through their favourite stories alongside the team.
This week Busy Birds have had so much fun!
Busy Birds have been really engaging in lots of fun role play this week, we have seen builders, vets and of course lots of baby role play. Imaginative play is a really important part of your child's everyday play. Imaginative play gives the children a chance to explore the world around, them the ability to form new ideas, images and concepts in a safe and secure environment.
The children have been engaging in lots of other fun activities this week as well, some of the children joined in doing mark making where they worked on moving from a full hand palmar grasp to a tripod grip with their pencils.
As this week was the celebration of Chinese new year the children have also been enjoying some fun activities around this as well. From decorating the windows with red tissue paper to making their own rabbits. Learning about other cultures is a really good way for children to explore and learn how things are similar and different all around the world. Multicultural play helps the children appreciate cultural diversity through things they enjoy such as art, foods and music!
What a great week we have had in Pre-School this week!
The children have had a really great week full of lots of fun learning opportunities. This week in Pre-School the children have been practicing writing their names by tracing over laminated print outs of their names. The children showed great focus and some were even able to copy their names onto other pieces of paper
The children have also been focusing on numbers and recognizing them. They have been learning this through a find the numbers activity where they had to find certain numbers hidden in a tray of oats.
We've had lots of fun in Pre-School this week working on fine motor skills and we saw some amazing team work with a small group doing some real thought out role-play.
