Why Choose Us
The first thing you need to know about us is that we are family run. We have children of our own so we understand! You’ll find that we tailor our child care to suit each child’s needs as we understand the importance of individuality.
Choosing a nursery for your little one is hard. It’s a big decision to entrust your child into someone else’s care. Here at Munchkins, our main aim is to reassure parents that their children are in a safe, friendly and supportive environment where they can thrive and become confident and happy little people.
Nurserycam
We pride ourselves on being the only Nursery in Exeter with the Five Star Nurserycam facility. Nurserycam is a secure webcam facility which allows parents to view images of their children in our nursery over the Internet. It gives parents the opportunities to be more involved in their child’s daily development and ease any separation anxiety. It always puts a smile on parents’ faces!
We are so proud and confident in our ability as a nursery that we encourage all parents to use this facility. We have video cameras in each room to enable you to see your child as they play, eat and sleep during the day. Security is of the highest importance, so Nurserycam use the same technologies and processes as online banking and military organisations.
Each parent has their own individual password account which enables them to view only the room their child is in on the days and times that they are there.
Age Groups
There are 3 age groups within our Nursery: 8 weeks to 21 months, 21 months to 3 years and 3 to 5 years. We have a dedicated Under 2's Unit, enabling our staff to help your child learn and develop at their own level with age appropriate activities. This provides the babies with a nurturing and caring environment where the staff can give them their undivided attention.
Outings and Visitors
To extend on the children's learning experiences we like to offer variety in their day.
We arrange outings off site into the local community such as the Quay, the park and the library. These visits are always risk assessed prior to them taking place and we maintain a ratio of one adult to every two children.
We also like to arrange for visitors from the community to also come into the nursery to share new experiences with the children. Previous visits have included two police officers talking to the children about the work they do, a dental hygienist who taught the children how to care for their teeth and every Easter we have eggs from a local farm which the children watch hatch into little chicks and then they care for them until they are two weeks old.
Freshly made meals
Children who attend a full day at Nursery will receive three meals. We provide breakfast, a 2 course cooked lunch and a light afternoon snack all included within the fee. All meals are freshly prepared daily by our onsite Nursery Chef using plenty of fresh locally sourced fruit, vegetables and meat to provide a nutritious, well-balanced menu.
We make every effort to cater for children’s dietary requirements, especially allergies and intolerances.
Tapestry
We use an online learning journal called tapestry. Throughout your child's time at Munchkins the staff will upload pictures and videos of your child for you to view via the tapestry app or a desktop. You will have a secure login to access your account When your child's time at Munchkins comes to an end you will be able to download the journal with all the lovely memories of child's time at Munchkins!
