Valentines!

Annexe

This week we have had so much fun in the Annexe!

The children had a great time exploring some different fun valentines themed activities. The children made some lovely valentines cards using some heart shaped cutters and paint to print shapes.

The children have shown a big interest in the role-play kitchen, one little boy loved 'making toast' and some of the children pretended to be making food for each other. We have also seen some lovely interest in books this week. Having a good healthy interest in stories help your child get to know sounds, words and language, and develop early literacy skills. It will also help children learn a sense of what is real and what is make believe as well as creative healthy active imaginations.

Busy Birds /h3>

We have had a great week in Busy Birds!

The children have been really involved in exploring the world around them utilizing their senses. The children joined in with a Pre-School activity in the garden where they got to explore some coloured water with a valentines theme. The children really engaged their imaginations by pretending they were making a lot of different things.

The children had a great time exploring some coloured oats which helped develop an understanding of different descriptive words and learning how something can feel different depending how it is combined for example, some of the oats had colouring on so felt softer while some were still dry. As children explore sensory materials they develop their sense of touch. This lays the foundation for learning other skills, such as identifying objects by touch and using fine and gross motor skills.

Pre-School

This week in Pre-School we have had such a great time!

During the week the children have been continuing to develop their understanding of phonics. Kassady led the children in a phonics activity where they explored different letters and their sounds. Developing an early understanding of phonics is important because it helps children to learn letter-sound relationships because English uses letters in the alphabet to represent sounds. Phonics teaches this information to help children learn how to read.

Pre-School had an amazing time joining in some fun valentines crafts, they made cards and helped to create some lovely tortilla pizzas and even some delicious heart shaped cupcakes. The children had an amazing time exploring different weights and measurements and combining the ingredients as well as decorating their cakes once they cooled.
