Learning through our senses

DAISIES

Last week in Daisies, the children have spent lots of time with all of the puzzles, activity boards and toy phones. The babies are really starting to spend short periods of time with different activities. They really enjoy playing with our activity pyramid, spinning all the alphabet letters around and moving the beads along. The babies are also very good at sharing the toys at the moment! With the toy phones, the babies have been pressing all the buttons and holding them to their ears.

Some of our older babies spent some time outside, joining Dragonflies while they were enjoying their garden time. They really enjoyed whizzing down the slide, rolling the balls around and pushing the toy lawn mower around.

To celebrate Valentine's Day, Daisies had fun with some heart shaped ice, and red glitter! The babies loved picking the ice up and feeling it with their fingers. They also loved putting it in their mouths of course!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

DRAGONFLIES

Last week Dragonflies have been focusing on shapes, especially hearts!

All the children enjoyed making heart shapes with our feet for our mummies and daddies. The paint was very tickly for their little toes! The children have also done painting using different shapes. They used square, circle and heart. You can find these shapes in many of your children's toys such as a shape sorter!

Dragonflies also had the big turf tray out full of different textured messy play. The children ran straight into it and had so much fun! They all were very involved and had a go at feeling each texture and the difference between them.

The children have completed a big group painting which was very comical! The children were slipping and sliding all over the place, exploring the paint texture and feeling with their hands and feet. Their vests were a little colourful!

Dragonflies have been sharing and taking turns recently with lots of encouragement which has been lovely to see, but also giving each other their belongings.

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

INCY WINCY SPIDERS

Incy Wincy Spiders have had another great week!

The children have spent so much time in the garden, as the weather has been so nice. They have been sweeping in the garden using the brushes. Some of the children did a really good job and were really pleased with themselves! Incy Wincys have also being using the jugs and doing some scooping and pouring with the water, transferring it from the tray to the barrel. The children really liked playing with the pushchairs in the garden. They pushed them around with the babies in and they were all following each other around the garden.

Incy Wincys have also had a busy week painting. The children started off with roller painting and then they used brushes. Incy Wincys finished off the week with hand painting! The children made some lovely valentines cards for their mummies and daddies.

The children have also been trying to drink from their cups without the lids on! This is something you could try with your child at home.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

BUSY BEES

What a busy week Busy Bees had last week.

Busy bees had loads of fun doing sensory play using shaving foam, paint and glitter. The children explored drawing shapes and mixing the colours with their fingers and different objects such as the lolly sticks! The children had lots of fun finger painting on clear paper. They made marks with their fingers drawing pictures of flowers, family and friends!

Outside, Busy Bees enjoyed practising their jumping by having a go at some hopscotch! The children were counting as they were jumping. Maybe you could try some jumping, maybe even having a go at some hopscotch at home!

Busy Bees spent time threading beads, talking about the colours and the size of the beads they were putting onto the string.

Hope you had a great weekend!

LADYBIRDS

Ladybirds were getting very creative last week.

The children had a go at making their own stained glass windows. They explored all the different ways they can make marks.

Ladybirds have been extending their creativity to outside as well. The children have been practising drawing shapes in the garden with large crayons as well as exploring different textures on the turf tray.

The children have been playing lots of games this week and have seen some good turn taking from the children - "you go first then it's my turn".

Hope everyone had a fabulous week.

PRESCHOOL

Last week Preschool celebrated Valentine's Day. The children made beautiful cards for the people that they love. These included best friends, staff, parents and siblings. The children also wanted to make flowers for a wedding so some lucky people might have got one too!

The children have played games with 2D and 3D shapes. They have talked about their properties, naming and counting corners, sides and faces. The children thought about things that are circles, rectangles, squares and triangles. They came up with suggestions such as faces, party hats, tables, windows, doors, mountains and the clock.

Preschool also had great fun with Ton Ton Tortue. He taught us some lovely songs. One was about fruit and the other had actions. Do you know what a pomme, poire, bananane and an orange is? Preschool do!

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Last week the children have been learning and exploring through their senses, inside and outside. Of course, Munchkins also had great fun with more messy play!
