This week in Daisies we have been getting very messy!
We have been doing lots of free painting and the children literally used their whole bodies to make some lovely marks on the paper, the floor and on themselves!
The children have been exploring with the glitter, and we have heard some 'Oh' when they discovered how shiny they could get when the glitter got on them and we have laughed watching them having such a fun time!
We also have had the tents out and some of our little ones had an amazing adventure going through them and popping their heads out smiling and giggling!
We have finished the week going into the garden with Leanne and playing with the role play clothes, so we have seen some superheroes, witches and even some of the children ready for the sun with big hats on. Well they might need to wait a couple days and see if the sun comes back!
Have a fabulous weekend everyone!
DRAGONFLIES
We have had lots of fun in Dragonflies this week! We have been very creative, making some beautiful butterflies by doing some mirror image painting. The children loved looking at what they had done, with some shouting 'wow!'
Monkey Music was a lot of fun this week as we had the parachute to play with! The children loved shaking it and lifting it up into the air. One little girl was really keen to run under it, but she held back until right at the end, when she ran under laughing her head off!
The children loved the puddles in the garden, doing plenty of splashing! They were all laughing together and ended up soaking wet! Even the puddle suits didn't keep them dry!
The Dragonflies have been pretending to be doctors too, using the thermometer to check that the dolls don't have a temperature!
One little girl has been showing a big interest in organising toys, finding all the objects that look the same and lining them up.
Have a great weekend!
BUSY BEES
What a busy week here in Busy Bees!
The children have spent lots of time in the role play kitchen with play dough, pretending to bake all sorts, so we decided this would be a good opportunity to bake some real food! Telling the story of 'The Little Red Hen' the children learnt how the hen took the wheat and ground it into flour to make the bread. We took the same ingredients and spent lots of time mixing, stirring and adding to make a lovely dough before kneading, stretching and shaping it into rolls. There were lots of interesting techniques including one child using his elbow to knead! Hopefully you got to sample a roll that your child brought home.
Another big hit with the children this week has been playing sharing games, taking it in turns for their go with 'Pop up Dragon' and such interesting learning from 'Connect 4' - great for fine motor skills (posting the counters into the slots) as well as numeracy (making rows of 4 colours) and positional language (diagonally, horizontally and vertically.)
Making a wall for Humpty Dumpty to sit on has seen lots of messy painting fun and the children told us how many bricks Humpty needed to sit on to be 'higher' or 'taller' than each other.
This week we have said goodbye to Emma and we wish her lots of luck in her new role and a big welcome to Claire who joins us in Busy Bees!
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend.
LADYBIRDS
We have had so much fun this week in Ladybirds! We started off the week by doing our favourite thing… getting messy! The children loved exploring the shaving foam and practicing making shapes in it, with shouts of ‘it sticky!’
We went for a lovely trip to the library, the children loved exploring all the toys and the rocking horse was definitely a firm favourite! We read lots of books and had a lovely tea on the Cathedral green where the children spoke about what they could see ‘big castle’ and ‘birdie.’
We are turning our sleep room into a winter wonderland, by making our very own Santa's Grotto out of a box - we painted it and will stick on some glitter. The children were all very excited ‘Santa bring me presents!’
We made our own poppies, to support Remembrance Day this weekend by painting some cupcake holders and sticks, turning them into poppies. The children also worked on their fine motor skills by sticking on buttons and we spoke about the colours and where we have seen flowers.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
Lots of glitter, painting, jumping in puddles, bread making and shaving foam play!
