From the 6th to the 12th of February is Childrens Mental Health week which aims to shine a light on the importance of children and young people's mental health. The emotional wellbeing of children is just as important as their physical health.
Good mental health allows children and young people to develop the resilience to cope with whatever life throws at them and to grow into well rounded adults.

Over the last few months Busy Birds have been spending a little portion of their mornings during circle time talking about how they feel, the adults and children all take in turn to say how they are feeling and why. This gives the children a chance to identify and label how they feel.
This morning we got a lot of "I am happy!" But we also got a couple. "I am sad." This is a good outlet for the children to learn about their own and others feelings and their importance.
As part of their morning routine Busy Birds also say some positive affirmations. "I am happy!" "I am strong!" "I am going to have a good day!" Positive affirmations are tools that children can use to support themselves. These sentences help kids develop a healthy sense of self as well as a positive mental-social-emotional mindset.
Please don't hesitate to ask any of the Busy Birds team questions at pick up if you wish to make this part of your everyday life at home also!
